President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, also Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, has approved the retirement of 110 General Officers and Senior Officers from the UPDF.
They include 11 Generals and 99 Senior Officers from the rank of Major to Colonel
Some of these will retire on the 31st of August 2023 in Batch 13A.
The Generals include former Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura.
Prominent on the list set for retirement is Lt General James Nakibus Lakara.
He has served as the Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre commander based in Jinja.
From April 2015 until June 2016, he served as the deputy force commander of the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) and was in charge of logistical support.
From July 2013 until April 2015, he served as the commanding officer of the UPDF 3rd Division, based in Moroto. He was appointed as the deputy chief Coordinator of operation wealth creation in 2021.
Others to retire in batch 13 A, include Maj Gen Sam Wasswa Mutesasira, Maj Gen Arocha Joseph, Brig Steven Oluka and Brig Augustine Atwooki among others.
The UPDF noted that Batch 13 B would accommodate other officers not included in this batch.
