The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has met retired United States Army officer Michael T. Flynn during a visit to Uganda.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Special Forces Command in Entebbe, where Gen Kainerugaba welcomed the visiting military veteran and security scholar.
During the discussions, Kainerugaba provided an overview of the history of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), highlighting its role in regional security and its participation in peacekeeping missions across Africa.
He said the force has developed a pan-African outlook through cooperation with other militaries on the continent and beyond.

Flynn commended Uganda’s military leadership and said the country’s stability had contributed significantly to its development progress.
“With continued peace and sound military leadership, Uganda will sustain its development trajectory,” Flynn said.
Michael T. Flynn is a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general with more than three decades of service in joint and special operations forces. His career included several overseas combat deployments and leadership roles in intelligence and national security.
He previously served as Director of the Defence Intelligence Agency, the United States’ top military intelligence agency, and later as the 25th National Security Advisor to Donald Trump.

Flynn is also an author and currently chairs America’s Future, one of the United States’ long-standing non-profit organisations.
According to officials, Flynn is scheduled to hold additional engagements with UPDF leaders and Ugandan academics during his visit.
The meeting at the Special Forces Command headquarters was also attended by Jack Bakasumba, Chief of Joint Staff of the UPDF, and Allan Matsiko, Assistant Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, responsible for defence engagements and international affairs.
