In May this year, Gen Muhoozi signaled his desire to go public about his presidential ambitions after his 48th birthday.

He held several festivities countrywide and invited Rwanda’s Paul Kagame for his main celebration at State House, Entebbe.

“When Team MK wins power in this country, which we will, our first action will be to increase the sports budget,” Gen Muhoozi said on Twitter.

He added: “Team MK will announce our political programme soon.”

The next round of presidential elections will be held in 2026.
