Former NTV news anchor Frank Walusimbi has been appointed an associate communications officer at United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
“Folks, I took on a new role as Associate Communications Officer @UNHCRuganda,” Walusimbi announced on Sunday.
The UN agency is mandated to aid and protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities, and stateless people, and to assist in their voluntary repatriation, local integration or resettlement to a third country.
“For some days now, I have been fathoming out the appreciation and best wishes you sent out to me when I announced that I had ceased my duties at NTV,” he went on.
Walusimbi recently left the Serena-based television station where he used to present evening Luganda news.
He received positive feedback from viewers for doing an excellent job.
“Words alone cannot express my gratitude,” he said, in response to the positive responses.
He said this new role is spanned by humanitarian work.
“I invite you to contact us should you have an inquiry about refugee matters. Thank you and best wishes.”
