The Uganda Police Force is mourning the passing of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Boniface Eron Okoth Ogola, who served from 1981 to 1985.
He breathed his last today at Nakasero Hospital, Kampala.
The current IGP, Abas Byakagaba, has extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Ogola, assuring them that he will be honoured in a manner befitting his legacy.
Byakagaba emphasised that Ogola’s contributions to law enforcement and national security will forever be remembered within the force.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, confirmed the passing of the former police chief, adding that updates regarding funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
The people of Tororo, Ogola’s birthplace, are also mourning the loss of a remarkable leader whose impact extended beyond his tenure as IGP.
Apart from leading the police force during the Obote II regime, Ogola also served as a personal assistant to Erinayo Oryema, another former Inspector General of Police.
