Makerere University Business School (MUBS), in partnership with Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda, is set to host the highly anticipated MUBS Cultural Gala, a vibrant celebration of Uganda’s diverse heritage and traditions.
The event, themed “Rooted in Tradition and Growing Towards Sustainability,” will take place on April 4, 2025, at the MUBS main campus, promising an electrifying fusion of culture, music, and entertainment.
Speaking at a press conference held at ADB Theatre 2, Macklean Kukundakwe, Country Lead for Trade and Marketing at Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to cultural preservation and youth empowerment.

“At Coca-Cola, we believe in celebrating diversity and providing a platform for young people to showcase their talents. The MUBS Cultural Gala is the perfect occasion to experience ‘Real Magic’ – a blend of tradition, music, and excitement,” she said.
MUBS Guild President, Moses Amanya, lauded Coca-Cola for its role as the event’s title sponsor, highlighting the brand’s commitment to empowering the youth.
“This is a historic moment. We have never held a press conference for a cultural gala before, and Coca-Cola has played a pivotal role in making this possible. Their support goes beyond sponsorship; it’s about investing in young talent and fostering unity,” Amanya noted.

MUBS Minister of Social Affairs and Entertainment, Ronald Muhumuza, emphasised the significance of the gala in uniting students from across East Africa. “The MUBS Cultural Gala is more than just an event; it is a celebration of our roots and an opportunity to embrace sustainable practices while preserving our heritage,” he stated.
The gala will feature a variety of cultural performances, including traditional dances, drama, mime acts, and music, with different student associations competing for top honours. A panel of esteemed judges will determine the winners, who will be awarded prizes in recognition of their cultural contributions.

According to the organisers, musicians Nakiyingi Veronica Luggya aka Vinka and Walukagga Shafik aka Fik Fameica will headline the gala. The two singers already have a collabo song titled “Tubikole”.
Attendees can look forward to exhilarating performances from some of Uganda’s top artists, surprise acts, and immersive Coca-Cola experiences. The company has promised free drinks and engaging activities to make the event memorable.
With students from across East Africa and beyond, the gala aims to promote cultural exchange and strengthen the bonds within the MUBS community. The organisers have called on students, faculty, and the general public to attend, urging them to share the excitement on social media.
