The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has released the May 2024 examination results citing a general improvement in performance.
According to the results released on Tuesday at Skyz Hotel in Naguru, 81 students completed the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) course compared to 76 in the November 2023 examinations.
Of the 81 students who completed the course, 41 (50.6%) are female and 40 (49.4%) are male.
Twelve (12) (57.1%) of the 21 top positions were taken by female candidates and 9 (42.9%) male candidates.
The cumulative number of students who have completed the CPA course has now reached 5,051.
While releasing the results, the Chairperson of the Public Accountants Examinations Board (PAEB), CPA Prof. Laura A. Orobia, said this year, they organised a series of student engagement activities to improve performance.
“In February and March, we had 2,593 attendees out of 10,195 expected (25.4%). These free sessions showed better exam results for attendees.”
According to her, the students attending engagement activities performed better in exams.
“Engagement boosts performance. PAEB encourages students to join engagement activities. These sessions help students understand requirements and improve performance,” she said.
