The Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party has suspended Sanyu Gideon Ntabose, its former parliamentary candidate in the recent elections in Kasese municipality for engaging in activities that are hostile to the party.
Ntabose had been seen in court calling affidavits for the election petition of Mbaju Jackson Tatikha, the former Member of Parliament for Busongora South who contested as an independent candidate after losing the FDC ticket to another contender. He later crossed to the National unity Platform-NUP.
The party has also terminated the membership of Bwambale Godfrey Bwerere, Mbathulhawu James, and Mbaju for having contested as independent candidates contrary to the FDC constitution.
A letter written by the FDC Secretary-General Nathan Nandala Mafabi and addressed to Kasese district chairperson Saulo Mate, and other party officials shows that the conduct of the implicated members is derailing the party’s aspirations of respecting the constitution.
According to the letter, Ntabose will face the disciplinary committee for being behind strings of unexplained and uncoordinated activities, in total disregard of the party position, both at the local and national levels.
But one of the terminated members, Bwambale Godfrey Bwerere told URN that FDC should not bother itself because he was aware of the party constitution when he chose to contest as an independent candidate. He says he deserted the party one year ago. URN
