The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party, is set to hold its National Executive Committee elections on October 6, 2023, at Patidar Samaj Sports Ground, Lugogo-Kampala.

“The expected number of voters is 1271. These voters, Election Observers and other related persons shall be accredited at the Party Headquarters (Najjanankumbi) on Thursday 5th October 2023, starting at 9am to 5pm,” Toterebuka Bamwenda Boniface, FDC Chief Electoral Commissioner said.

He noted that the voters were got from a total
of 123 districts which actively and vigorously participated in the Party Structure Elections.

The categories of voters invited for this particular election include; District Chairperson, District General Secretary, District Secretary for Publicity and Mobilization, District Women League Chairperson and District Youth Secretary.

At the Constituency levels, Bamwenda said
the invited voters are Chairperson and General Secretary of whom one must be a female.

“We invite the different categories to be around on Thursday 5th October for Accreditation.
As EC, we are prepared to handle this election with maximum respect of the FDC Electoral Guidelines and the Party Constitution,” he said.

The Party Closed Nominations and elections shall take place in all vacant positions.

All successful candidates will be
expected to serve in respect of the Party Constitution till the end of their term in 2028..

Among the party members vying for the different NEC positions are Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Nandala Mafabi, who want to retain their positions as party president and secretary general, respectively.

Meanwhile, the FDC Katonga faction led by the interim president, Erias Lukwago, has rallied party members to shun the elections. “Don’t waste your time going for the purported Delegates Conference scheduled for 6th October 2023. These people are on a frolic of their own.” he said.

The faction has also organized a ‘brainstorming meeting’ on the same date the Najjanankumbi faction will be conducting NEC elections.

“On 6th October 2023, we are convening to rediscover ourselves as the FDC party. You are going to see who is who in the FDC. The eminent people are assembling to rethink the direction of the party. It’s vital, and we hope there will be no sabotage,” he noted.
