Police has said that it is studying items recovered from the three separate scenes where grenades exploded at homes of opposition MPs in a period of one week.

Unknown people are suspected to have thrown these explosives at the homes of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana on Tuesday morning while a similar incident occured at Rubaga North MP Moses Kasibante’s home last week on Thursday.

At a press briefing on these grenade attacks, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima said that police have responded timely to all emergency reports and recovered valuable items to help out investigations.

“We have established with the help of our expert teams that these are factory made hand grenades with less shattering effect,” Kayima told journalists at Central Police Station on Tuesday morning.

He said that the wife of the Makindye West legislator called Katwe police station at 1:25 am in the morning reporting an attack on their home in Migadde, Makindye Division by unknown people who threw at them something suspected to be a grenade.

Around the same time, a similar report was received by Kasangati police division with a similar incident at the home of Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi ‘Bobi Wine’ at his Magere home near Gayaza.

“In the first case of MP Moses Kasibante, we have already submitted the recovered items to Government Analytical Laboratory (GAL) for examination,” police say.

The police spokesperson told the press that both Bobi Wine and Allan Ssewanyana have already recorded statements in regard to what transpired.

Police is suspecting a Noah car that was seen at Bobi Wine’s home but whose number plates have not been identified.

Meanwhile, Kayima said that Police has increased vigilance on all the people whose security is threatened and urged them to report such incidents in case of any fears.

The public has been asked to keep calm and report any suspicious fears around them.

On claims by MP Kasibante that Police had a hand in the attack at his home, Kayima refuted this saying that every individual is entitled to their opinion.
