Former Rubaga Division Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Anderson Burora, has been charged at Buganda Road Court with spreading malicious information against the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anita Among.
Burora was arrested on Tuesday from his home in Ntinda and detained at Kira Division Police Station.
He was later transferred to the Central Police Station (CPS).
He was sacked from his job recently for not apologising to Speaker Among after he condemned the misuse of public resources using his X handle @HarderHB.
Court documents suggest that Burora faces charges related to spreading malicious information, following a barrage of social media posts aimed at Speaker Among between March and June 2024.
He has been remanded until July 9th as the state requests more time to amend the charge sheet.
Burora was in mid-March suspended from office for alleged continued violation of the Uganda Public Service standing orders 2021.
He had openly confronted the Speaker Among following reports about suspected cases of abuse of public resources at Parliament.
He recently formed a National Resistance Movement (NRM) group to fight corruption.
He has resisted attempts by the RDC secretariat to silence his views against corruption at Parliament and other public bodies.
