Former Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa has reportedly been kidnapped.
Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party said Munyagwa was grabbed by armed men on Sunday evening and whisked off in a drone.
The kidnappers allegedly waylaid him around Masanafu as he drove to NBS TV station in Naguru for “NBS Eagle” program.
“We have received the news of the kidnap of Mubarak Munyagwa, our member & former MP Kawempe South,” FDC tweeted.
It added: “He was kidnapped at a gunpoint by a gang of armed men on his way to @nbstv, whisked away in a drone to an unknown destination. We condemn & fight NRM’s political persecution.”
Police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga told SoftPower News that they were not aware of the incident.
“As police, we don’t have him. You need to cross-check with the other people,” Enanga said on phone.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said he was not aware of the incident and would find out later.
“Have they reported to any police station? Let them report first,” he advised.
Munyagwa served as the Chairperson of the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises.
