Equity Bank Uganda and Nation Media Group (NMG) are exploring new avenues for collaboration aimed at amplifying shared goals in financial literacy, inclusive banking, and economic empowerment.
In a high-level engagement on Thursday morning, Equity Bank Uganda’s Managing Director, Gift Shoko, led a team to NMG’s head offices in Namuwongo, a Kampala suburb, where they were warmly received by NMG Managing Director, Susan Nsibirwa, and her leadership team.

The courtesy visit is part of a series of meetings that the Bank is holding to help strengthen media collaborations.
Accompanying Mr Shoko was Olivia Mugaba, Equity Bank’s Head of SME Banking, and Clare Tumwebaze, Head of Marketing and Communications. Nsibirwa, on the other hand, was flanked by Hajara Batuka, NMG Head of Marketing, Allan Chekwech, the Managing Editor, Daily Monitor, George Kihuria, General Manager, Finance and Sam Barata, NMG General Manager, Commercial.

The meeting underscored the importance of strategic media partnerships in driving social impact, particularly in areas like agriculture financing, refugee empowerment, SME development, and women in business. Both institutions expressed enthusiasm for working together to elevate awareness and impact through compelling storytelling and public education.
Ms. Nsibirwa highlighted NMG’s regional media reach, with platforms such as Daily Monitor, NTV Uganda, KFM and The East African playing a critical role in shaping public discourse across East Africa.

She also expressed gratitude for, amongst others, Equity Bank’s three-year strong Top 100 sponsorship and banking support for socio-economic initiatives around the country.
On his part, Equity Bank’s MD Gift Shoko pointed out that the Bank is currently serving 2.3 million customers in Uganda, and the key focus areas are agricultural, trade, Small and Medium Enterprises, retail and manufacturing sectors and Energy and Environment among others.

Other areas that the Bank is currently focusing on are the provision of social protection for refugees, affordable credit for youth and women and farmers. Both parties agreed to explore content collaborations, advocating for impactful storytelling on youth and women’s initiatives and a commitment to mutual growth, with plans for future dialogues.
