Entebbe — Entebbe International Airport registered its highest-ever monthly passenger traffic in August 2025, with 243,089 international passengers passing through the facility, according to data released by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).
The figures comprise 116,507 arrivals and 126,582 departures, averaging 7,841 passengers daily. This surpasses the previous record set in July 2025 and reflects growing momentum in Uganda’s aviation and tourism sectors.
In July, the Airport handled 230,577 passengers in July 2025, the highest monthly traffic in the airport’s history. This included 119,127 arriving and 111,450 departing passengers, averaging 7,437 per day.
Arrivals exceeded departures during the month. The previous highest monthly traffic was recorded in December 2024, with 222,301 passengers, an average of 7,171 arrivals and departures per day.
UCAA attributed the surge to sports tourism and international conferences hosted in the country during the month, alongside the steady recovery of business and leisure travel.
Cargo volumes also remained strong, with the airport handling 5,257 metric tonnes in August — 2,010 tonnes of imports and 3,247 tonnes of exports. Fresh produce continued to dominate Uganda’s air exports, reinforcing the sector’s contribution to the country’s trade earnings.
During the first half of 2025, Entebbe International Airport recorded 550,439 international arrivals and 582,927 international departures, totalling 1,133,366 international passengers.
This marks an increase from 527,692 arrivals and 541,532 departures, totalling 1,069,224 passengers in the same period of January to June 2024. The figures reflect a 4.3% growth in arrivals and a 7.6% growth in departures year-on-year.
The latest performance highlights Entebbe International Airport’s growing role as a regional hub for passenger and cargo traffic and reflects increasing investor confidence in Uganda’s tourism, agriculture, and service sectors.
