According to data released by the airport authorities, the December 2025 traffic included 121,687 arrivals and 120,840 departures, translating to an average movement of approximately 7,823 passengers per day.

Passenger Growth in 2025

Throughout 2025, the airport handled a total of 2,486,893 international passengers, reflecting steady growth in air travel demand.

Comparative statistics show continued annual expansion in passenger traffic: 2024 (2,243,104 passengers), 2023 (1,932,094 passengers) and 2022 (1,574,405 passengers).

The rising numbers are attributed to improved connectivity, increased tourism activity, and recovery of global air travel following earlier disruptions.

Cargo Performance

Cargo handling also recorded a strong performance. In December 2025, the airport processed 6,728 metric tonnes of cargo, comprising 2,356 metric tonnes of imports and 4,372 metric tonnes of exports.

Uganda’s exports through air transport continue to exceed imports, with major outbound shipments including fresh agricultural produce, fish, and flowers.

Overall cargo statistics show sustained growth: 2025 (69,595 metric tonnes), 2024 (67,098 metric tonnes), 2023 (59,072 metric tonnes) and 2022 (61,255 metric tonnes).

January 2026 Performance

In January 2026, the airport recorded 150,188 international passengers, consisting of 67,570 arrivals and 82,618 departures, with an estimated daily average of 4,845 passengers moving through the facility.

Cargo throughput in January 2026 stood at 3,982 metric tonnes, including 1,577 metric tonnes of imports and 2,405 metric tonnes of exports.

Airport authorities say the positive trade balance in air cargo reflects Uganda’s growing role in regional agricultural and horticultural exports.

The airport is managed under the oversight of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, which continues to invest in infrastructure and service efficiency to support rising passenger and cargo demand.
