Announcing the changes, Ismail Mulindwa, the director for basic and secondary education at the Education ministry, revealed that First Term will start on February 6, 2023 and end on May 5, 2023.

He added that Term Two is slated to kick off on May 29 and end on August 25 while the Third Term is planned to start on September 18 and end on December 1.

With the changes, this implies that the next academic year’s first and second terms for pre-primary, primary and secondary schools as well as institutions of higher learning will last 12 weeks, longer than the 3rd term.

According to Mulindwa, the start of Term One for S.1, S.5 and new entrants at technical/farm schools and community polytechnics will be communicated in the due course.

In her remarks, Mrs Museveni tasked parents to guard their children against early pregnancies during the coming two-months holiday.
