The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has announced the appointment of Ms Agnes Kainza Nzogi as its new Permanent Secretary. This appointment marks a significant step in her career within the Ugandan public service.
Ms Nzogi brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served in various capacities within the government. She joined the Public Service in November 2004 as an Assistant Secretary, initially working in Sironko District Local Government. Her career progression includes roles at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, where she served as Senior Assistant Secretary and Principal Assistant Secretary.
In December 2017, Ms. Nzogi transferred to the ODPP as Principal Assistant Secretary, and in August 2020, she was promoted to Under Secretary, a position she held until her recent appointment as Permanent Secretary.
Ms. Nzogi’s academic qualifications are extensive, including a Master of Public Administration from the University of Birmingham (UK), a Master of Arts in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies (The Hague), and postgraduate diplomas in Monitoring and Evaluation and Public Administration. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Makerere University and a Certificate in Law from the Law Development Centre, Uganda.
In her new role, Ms. Nzogi will be responsible for providing strategic policy direction, overseeing the implementation of development plans on behalf of the DPP, and ensuring adherence to service delivery standards for effective prosecutorial services.
