Tanzanian singing star, Diamond Platnumz, promises his upcoming performance in Kampala this Friday will be “nothing but the best”.
Platnumz is in Uganda to headline the Comedy Store Uganda fundraising concert scheduled for Friday, July 14, 2023, at Kololo airstrip.
Through the concert, Comedy Store Foundation is looking to expand its programs which are aimed at facilitating youth skilling and mentorship as well as positively impacting society through charitable activities.
Currently, the Foundation runs three key activities; the Home of Hope Charity football match; The Comedy Auditions Program; and the Youth Training & Mentorship Program.
This will be Platnumz’s fourth performance in Uganda.
He arrived at Entebbe International Airport Wednesday evening at 6:45 pm aboard Uganda Airlines.
He was accompanied by his manager, Sallam and a team of 14 including his band.
He will address a press conference Thursday morning at Mestil Hotel.
“They (Ugandans) should expect nothing but the best. I don’t joke when it comes to the stage. Uganda is my home. My kids are from here,” the Yatapita singer told journalists at the airport.
Commenting on why he is involved in this charity concert, Platnumz referred to his story, having grown up in a situation of need.
“I have to give back to my people. I came from the hood. I came from a slum area, lower life. That’s my duty I have to do that. I don’t wanna be selfish. I love empowering people. The more you have people, the more you expect blessings,” the singer added.
Friday’s show will be hosted by Kenyan comedian, Eric Omondi.
It will also feature artists like Nameless, Spice Diana, King Saha, Winnie Nwagi, Ray G, Alien Skin, Karole Kasita, Naava Grey, Zex Bilangilangi, MC Mariachi, Madrat & Chiko, Abeeka Band, Fun Factory, Maulana & Reign, Teacher Mpamire Daddy Andre, Eezzy, Figo West, Titus Vybz, Merry Heart, Sammy & Shawa, among others.
Tickets go for Ugx. 70k (Normal), Ugx. 150k (VIP) and Ugx. 3 million (Table of 5).
