Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz on Friday night pulled at heartstrings when he dedicated a love song to his baby mama Zari Hassan during a Comedy Store Foundation charity concert at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
Diamond, who arrived in the country on Wednesday, had promised “nothing but the best” show of their lives.
“I don’t joke when it comes to the stage. Uganda is my home, apart from the entertainment, the mother to my kids is from Uganda,” the Yatapita singer told journalists at Entebbe airport.
On Thursday, he was asked by journalists at Mestil Hotel and Residences whether he was getting back together with Zari as rumours had suggested on social media.
Diamond dismissed the rumours as mere gossip saying they were no longer in a love relation.
“Everyone has a partner so any connection would be about our children and has to be kept official,” he said.
Rumours of a possible reconciliation came after the celebrity pair’s appearance on the reality show ‘Young Famous and African’.
But later, Zari publicly accused Diamond of disrespecting her during the second season.
“We are just co-parenting and we respect each other We try to be more modern but we don’t want to entertain negativity when it comes to our kids,” Diamond told journalists in Kampala.
He added: “My kids still think that I am dating their mother. I don’t want to stress them, so we try to keep it professional.”
Dedication
However, during the Friday concert, Diamond took off time to send a heartfelt dedication to Zari, appreciating her for giving him two children.
“I wanna sing this song, and this song is a special dedication to the mother of my kids,” he announced to an elated audience.
Diamond went on to express his gratitude to Zari, acknowledging that she had blessed him with two beautiful children Latiffah and Nillan.
“Because she blessed me with two beautiful kids Latiffah and Nillan. I love them so much. Those were my first kids, you know.”
He then invited the crowd to sing along with him Aziz Azion’s love ballad ‘Nkumira Omukwano’.
“I want you to sing with me,” he appealed to the crowd.
Other artists who graced the show include; Karole Kasita, Winnie Nwagi, Spice Diana, Alien Skin, and Nameless.
