High Court Judge Henrietta Wolayo in Kampala on Thursday ruled that FUFA Assembly should to go ahead after a group of three fans had sought an injunction.

The trio; Edwin Bazanye, Paul Mugamba and Solomon Bbiira, rushed to the Civil Division of the High Court on Tuesday to temporarily halt the forthcoming FUFA presidential elections in which Moses Magogo is contesting as a sole candidate on grounds that their main case would be rendered irrelevant.

The three through their lawyers from Nsamba & Company Advocates told court that it is just and equitable that Court halts the elections to preserve the status quo as they stand to suffer irreparable damages if the FUFA administration is not restrained from organizing and conducting the elections before determining their main case.

The petitioners contend that FUFA administration irregularly and unlawfully conducted elections for and by its Article 1 of the FUFA Constitution by which it is a private limited company by guarantee with an objective of depriving public and National Council of Sports (NCS) from exercising their constitutional right and privileges.

Also sued is the Attorney General, National Council of Sports, Edgar Watson, Moses Magogo, Samuel Bakiika, the FUFA EC boss and Yusuf Awuye, the FUFA EC secretary general.

The hearing of the main suit is on 29th September 2017.

FUFA Lawyer Kaasa Emmanuel who was part of the FUFA legal team in court is optimistic the matters will be solved amicably.

“We are glad that the High Court Judge Henrietta Wolayo in Kampala has given the Assembly a go ahead. He has however added that the main suit will be heard on 29th September 2017,” Kaasa said.

Another hearing is ongoing in Lira Court still Lawyer Geoffrey Nsamba representing a group that is led by Dan Obote.

Preparations for a successful 93rd FUFA Ordinary General Assembly at the Kabalega Resort Hotel in Masindi continue to take shape.

The assembly will be held on 5th August, 2017 starting at 9 am.
