The Minister of Defence for Veterans Affairs, Adolf Mwesige has today, July 24, led a team of senior leaders from the Ministry and UPDF to inspect the ongoing works at the UPDF National Referral Hospital at Mbuya Hil .
The construction, which is now at 56% and expected to end in Jan 2021, started in February 2018.
According to the project management team, there has been slight delays in the implementation because of adverse weather and challenges of COVID-19.
The hospital will go along way to save UPDF from expenses it incurs in private treatment centres. The hospital upon completion, will also serve members of the public thus increasing the national health services capacity and offer employment to qualifying Ugandans.
Accompanying the Minister on the tour were Hon Col (Rtd) Charles Engola – the Minister of State for Defense (General Duties), UPDF Joint Chief of Staff Lt Gen Joseph Musanyufu, Ms Edith Buturo who represented the Permanent Secretary,
Maj Gen Dr Ambrose Musinguzi and other Senior Officers.
