Colonel (Rtd) Samuel Ngobi has taken over as Regional Coordinator for Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) in the Busoga region, succeeding Colonel (Rtd) Dhamuzungu Oguli.
The handover ceremony, held at Jinja District Headquarters, was presided over by Major General (Rtd) David Wakalo, Director of Training and Mobilisation for OWC.
Maj Gen Wakalo commended Col Oguli’s significant contributions, describing his leadership as instrumental to the success of several initiatives. He encouraged Col Ngobi to build on his predecessor’s achievements. “The ongoing success of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Busoga is a testament to the diligent efforts of OWC officers, with Col Oguli playing an instrumental role,” he said.
He urged coordinators to maintain strong communication and share timely information to drive socio-economic transformation across Busoga.
Col Oguli expressed gratitude to the President and the OWC Chief Coordinator for the confidence placed in him. He pledged continued support in his new role and extended best wishes to his successor.
Mr John Mubiru, Assistant Resident City Commissioner of Jinja City, also paid tribute to Col Oguli’s service, noting the OWC initiative’s role in tackling corruption and improving service delivery. “OWC has transformed practices in our region, and the positive testimonials from the community reflect this change,” he remarked.
Col Ngobi, in his address, thanked Gen (Rtd) Caleb Akandwanaho, Chief Coordinator of OWC, for entrusting him with the position. He reaffirmed his commitment and called on coordinators under his leadership to work together effectively.
The leadership change comes after Col Oguli’s appointment by the President as Commissioner for the Eastern Region Resident District Commissioners.
The ceremony drew local government leaders and OWC coordinators from across Busoga, who pledged to continue championing community development.
