The annual award celebrates organisations that demonstrate excellence in employment practices, workforce development, and social impact. The FUE is the officially accredited body representing Ugandan employers at the International Labour Organisation’s Annual Labour Conference, and serves as the leading voice of employers on labour, social, and economic issues locally and globally.

CCBU, a member of the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) group, received the award following a rigorous evaluation process that included a detailed submission outlining its impact on job creation and entrepreneurship. FUE officials also conducted a verification visit to confirm the company’s initiatives and results on the ground.

CCBU directly employs over 1,000 permanent and fixed-term employees and engages more than 400 contractors across its four facilities — Namanve, Mbarara, Rwenzori, and Plastic Recycling Industries in Nakawa. Beyond direct employment, the company sustains thousands more through an extensive network of business partners, distributors, and suppliers.

By creating shared opportunities across its value chain, CCBU has supported entrepreneurship and innovation while driving inclusive economic growth.

“At CCBU, we invest in our people to foster an inclusive and thriving workplace that accelerates our growth,” said Emmy Hashakimana, General Manager of Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda.

He noted that the company’s success is built on empowering employees to excel and contribute meaningfully to both the business and the wider community.

“We attract, develop, and retain high-performing talent, empowering individuals to reach their full potential,” Hashakimana explained. “A culture of growth inspires passion, impact, and continuous learning.”

He added that CCBU’s people-centred approach goes beyond employment — it’s about building a collaborative and values-driven culture. “Through authenticity, empathy, and collaboration, we create an environment where everyone can succeed together as a team,” he said.

The award reinforces CCBU’s position as a leading employer in Uganda’s manufacturing sector and highlights its role in supporting the country’s socio-economic transformation through sustainable employment and entrepreneurship development.
