HOIMA — The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has announced that construction at Kabalega International Airport in Hoima is nearly complete, with the project now 97 percent finished.
On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the UCAA Board of Directors and Management Team visited the site to assess progress. The team was led by Dr. Steven B. K. Kavuma (DCJ) Emeritus, Board Chairperson, who praised the contractor for the significant strides made.
“Outstanding progress has been achieved, and we are confident the airport will be ready as scheduled,” Dr. Kavuma said during the inspection.

The airport, classified as a Code 4F facility, has completed key infrastructure, including a parallel runway, cargo terminal, fire station, and meteorological facility. A mobile control tower is scheduled for installation in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the airport access road is reported to be 44 percent complete, with all construction works expected to be finalised by March 2026.
Kabalega International Airport is expected to boost regional trade, cargo handling, and passenger travel, strengthening Hoima’s position as a hub in Uganda’s aviation network.
