The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has opened the newly modified terminal building at Entebbe International Airport to the public.
This was revealed during an inspection by the Chairperson for the National Organizing Committee for the Non-Aligned Movements Summit and G77+ China Summits by Lucy Nakyobe, who was accompanied by the Security Minister, Jim Muhwezi, and Works and Transport Minister, Gen Katumba Wamala.
The terminal, constructed by the UPDF Engineering Brigade, was opened to facilitate the rising number of passengers as the summit draws closer.
According to Vianney Luggya, the UCAA Public Affairs Manager, the new terminal will enable them to handle clients effectively.
He revealed that the new terminal will fully be completed in July 2024.
“The pending project that China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) is working on will be completed in July 2024. It is different from the modified terminal that we opened on Wednesday,” he explained.
He said the bigger project for the upgrade and expansion of Entebbe Airport, includes all the other mentioned projects like the new cargo center, resurfacing of runways and associated taxiways (all completed), and expansion of Aprons.
The upgrading and expansion of Entebbe International Airport are being undertaken by (CCCC).
The newly built 10,000-square-meter cargo center was commissioned in April and construction of a new terminal building covering an area of 20,000 square meters is halfway complete.
