The Church of Uganda will hold a special service of commemoration for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
It will take place at St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe Kampala at 14:30 on Thursday 15th September.
“All are welcome to this opportunity to reflect on the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her unstinting and devoted service to the entire Commonwealth,” reads a notice by the British High Commission in Kampala.
The service will be led by the Bishop of the Diocese of Namirembe, The Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, with participation from the Dean of the Cathedral of Namirembe, The Very Rev. Canon Jonathan Kisawuzi.
The Government of the Uganda will be represented by the Minister of Foreign of Affairs, General Haji Abubaker Jeje Odongo, alongside the British High Commissioner, Ms Kate Airey OBE.
The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II arrived in London on Tuesday for the final time.
It was taken to Buckingham Palace where King Charles, his siblings, and princes William and Harry gathered to receive the coffin.
In typically British fashion, the queues to see the Queen lying-in-state have been building steadily overnight and this morning.
Westminster Hall will begin allowing the public in from 17:00 BST tonight, running continuously until 06:30 BST on Monday, the day of the funeral.
