The 2022 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (Chogm) will kick off on Monday, June 20 and run up to June 25 in the Rwandan capital, Kigali.
The Chogm meeting brings together leaders and representatives from 54 countries and private sector delegations for business discussions.
Rwanda President Paul Kagame in a June 16 telephone conversation, welcomed the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to “CHOGM 2022” meeting along with other world leaders.
“We are confident that everything is in place to have a successful CHOGM 2022,” Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs State Minister, Manasseh Nshuti, told a press conference over the weekend.
Dr Tharcisse Mpunga, the Minister of State in Charge of Primary Healthcare, said Covid-19 is not yet over “but we have taken every measure to ensure the safety of all participants at the CHOGM 2022”.
“All delegates will be tested and there are special medical teams on standby at all venues and hotels,” Dr Mpunga said.
