Ham Serunjogi, Chipper Cash Chief Executive Officer, says they have made the transfer of money across borders easy and fun.
He was speaking on the fourth anniversary of Chipper Cash dubbed “Chipper Day” – a day when the cross-border payments app, where over 3 million people send and receive money, came into the world.
“At the core of many business origin stories is people taking an initiative to build products and services that they would like to use for themselves, if for no other reason,” said Serunjogi.
He added: “Chipper is no different – a little less than four years ago Maijid and I set off on a journey to make sending money across and within Africa easy, accessible, and maybe even fun.”
Starting in 2018, Chipper Cash has for the last four years enabled more and more people to move money freely across borders.
As a way of celebrating this milestone and its journey in Uganda, Chipper Cash treated some of its users to an amazing breakfast at Mestil Hotel.
The breakfast event was key media personalities Timothy Code and Anne Kansiime who doubles as a comedienne.
Dan Tumuramye, the Country Director for Chipper Cash Uganda, used the opportunity to interest customers in some of the recently launched exciting features.
Notable among them is users being able to send money to non-Chipper users at no cost.
Tumuramye further unveiled forthcoming features on the Chipper platform and products aimed at improving the welfare of Ugandans.
The Chipper team committed to increasing its strong market presence to excite Ugandans by moving their money freely.
Chipper Cash was founded in 2018 by Maijid Moujaled, of Ghanaian descent, and Uganda’s very own Ham Serunjogi, to enable African consumers to send money to each other and across national borders more cheaply and easily.
In the past 12 months, Chipper has expanded its reach in the continent by launching in South Africa. It has also broadened its global footprint by opening in the UK and US.
In addition, Virtual Cards are now live in Nigeria and Global Stocks product is now available in Uganda along with the sending to Non-Chipper users facility.
