The office of the Resident State Attorney in Matuga has sanctioned allegations of grievous harm against two Chinese Nationals, Tong and Song ChengBao, for allegedly assaulting one of their workers, Male Muhammad.
It is alleged that on October 1, 2022 while Muhammad, a driver by profession was at his place of work in Migo Matuga, a factory that makes Gumboots, his boss Tong told him to join offloaders but he declined.
The victim alleges that his two bosses started assaulting him for rejecting their orders.
He consequently reported the matter to Matuga Police station where it was investigated and the bosses arrested.
The officers recorded statements from the suspects before releasing them on Police bond as the RSA reviewed the evidence presented in the file.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy PRO KMP, said the file has been sanctioned against the suspects on allegations of grievous harm.
He said the suspects will consequently be re-arrested and presented before the Grade One Magistrate Matuga as soon as possible.
“The Police would like to emphasise that the rights of workers should at all-time be protected by their employers. We appeal to all workers to use the necessary offices like the Police and the Ministry of Labour and Social Development to report abusers of their rights for proper action,” Owoyesigyire added.
