Uganda is hosting a high-level delegation of Chinese investors and industry representatives as part of the ongoing Uganda–China Coffee Investment and Destination Tour, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing trade, investment, and market linkages between the two countries.
The tour, organized by Uganda’s Embassy in Beijing, China, in collaboration with Uganda’s Consulate in Guangzhou, is taking place from April 10 to 23.
The delegation comprises representatives from leading Chinese companies, including Shandong Huajian Aluminum Group, Beijing Liujian Group Co., Ltd., Wuxi Jiangnan Cable Co., Ltd, Hainan Zhongyu International Cooperation Co., Ltd, Africa Cultural & Tourism Center, Beijing 7Sea Holidays International Travel Service Co., Ltd., Beijing Jubangbang Agriculture Co., Ltd, and Silk Road Global International Exhibition (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., among others.
According to H.E Ambassador Oliver Wonekha, Uganda’s Ambassador, Beijing, China, the team is comprised of 40 prospective investors from toirism, agricultire, minerals and technology.
She noted that this is a follow up of a trip that was held in May, “Something similar but bigger, our friends who came last time have told their relatives about the beauty of Uganda and prospectives in our beautiful country.”
Wonekha noted that during their stay, the delegation will undertake a comprehensive investment and familiarization tour across key economic and tourism sites in Uganda.
These include visits to Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park, Liao Shen Industrial Park, and Namanve Industrial Park, where they will explore opportunities in industrialization, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.
The tour will also highlight Uganda’s agricultural potential, with engagements at the Ankole Coffee Producers Cooperative Union and a coffee processing factory in Bushenyi, showcasing the country’s value chain in coffee production and export.
In addition, the delegation will experience Uganda’s rich natural and tourism assets through visits to iconic destinations such as Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Rwenzori Mountains National Park, and the Source of the Nile, among others.
Wonekha noted that the Uganda–China Coffee Investment and Destination Tour underscores Uganda’s commitment to positioning itself as a competitive destination for trade, investment, and tourism.
“It also reflects the strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and China, particularly in the areas of agro-industrialization, tourism development, mineral-based industrialization, and science, technology, and innovation.”
