The Uganda Police Force has announced heightened security at Mandela National Stadium ahead of two crucial CHAN 2024 fixtures on Friday, 8 August 2025 — Algeria vs South Africa at 17:00hrs and Guinea vs Uganda at 20:00hrs.

In a statement from Police Headquarters, authorities said earlier matches had been successfully secured, and a review meeting with the Local Organising Committee and CAF representatives was held to further strengthen arrangements.

Police praised fans for their discipline during past games, noting only a few attempted violations, which were swiftly dealt with.

For safety, the following items are strictly prohibited inside the stadium: airhorns (vuvuzelas), whistles, glass bottles and cans, large bags and suitcases, video cameras, tools such as hammers, flasks, smoke canisters, fireworks and umbrellas.

“We urge all attendees to comply with these regulations for their safety and the safety of others,” the police said.

The measures aim to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience as Uganda gears up for its high-stakes clash with Guinea.
