The women football club representing Uganda in the CAF Women Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers, Lady Doves, has sailed to the semifinal after a comfortable 3-0 win over Burundi’s PVP FC in a decisive match (final group game) played on Friday afternoon at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.
Goals from Nakacwa Spencer, Norah Alupo and Fazila Ikwaput saw the Ugandans, who are also the champions of the country’s women league, take the day.
The tournament will end on September 9, 2021. Eight clubs are participating and pit in two groups A and B. Coach Fred Musiime’s women are in Group A alongside PVP (Burundi), FAD (Djibouti) and Simba Queens (Tanzania).
The Ugandans opened with a thrilling 5-0 win over FAD followed by a barren draw with Tanzania’s Simba Queens.
