MASAKA — The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations (SPA/SO), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Brigadier General Jackson Pande Kajuba as the new commander of the UPDF Armoured Division headquartered in Masaka.
Brig Gen Kajuba replaces Maj Gen Deus Sande, who passed away on Thursday after reportedly suffering severe breathing complications.
The announcement was confirmed by the Acting Director of Defence Public Information, Col Chris Magezi, who said the appointments take immediate effect.
Brig Gen Kajuba has been serving as the Deputy Commander of the UPDF Armoured Division under the late Maj Gen Sande.
In the same changes, Col Wilson Bagonza Rwakanara from the Special Forces Command (SFC) has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed the new Deputy Commander of the UPDF Armoured Division.
“We congratulate the General officers on the new appointments and wish them good luck in the execution of their duties,” Magezi said.
The UPDF Armoured Division is one of the key formations of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, responsible for mechanised and armoured operations, with strategic significance in national defence and regional security missions.
The appointment comes as the UPDF continues to reorganise its leadership following the death of Maj Gen Deus Sande, who has been described by colleagues as a committed and professional officer.
