Barbra Kyagulanyi ‘Barbie’, wife to ailing legislator for Kyadondo East, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has said that Police has again assaulted her husband during his arrest at Entebbe International airport on Thursday night.

Bobi Wine and Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake were scheduled to travel abroad for further medication following their alleged torture by security operatives in Arua weeks ago, only to be barred by Police at the airport. Police said the two needed to undergo diagnosis by government physicians so that authorities can verify their medical problem.

But in a statement, Barbie said that even after attaining a medical report referring Bobi Wine abroad, the Police went on to brutally arrest and clobber him .

“Bobi has been violently arrested by security forces at Entebbe airport as he was heading to Washington, USA for treatment even when he has clearance from court to travel,” Barbie said.

“He told me that as soon as they closed the ambulance doors, he was again brutally beaten in front of a government doctor. They switched off the lights in the ambulance and started battering him. Bobi is now back in pain and he is dumped at Kiruddu hospital,” she added.

Barbie wondered why government would deny her husband access to medication abroad yet it is his right.

“He has a medical report from Lubaga hospital recommending urgent medical treatment abroad. By denying him access to medical treatment, do they need him disabled for life?”

On demands by the police to have Bobi Wine and Zaake subjected to medical tests in a government facility, Ms Kyagulanyi vehemently downplayed it arguing that the people who inflicted pain on his husband, can not be trusted to produce genuine medical results.

“We also strongly object to their doctors forcefully trying to administer treatment or draw samples from him. The same people who have acquiesced in torturing him can not be trusted with his body.

Currently, the two legislators are at Kiruddu hospital where Police drove them on Thursday evening.
