The Minister for Security, Gen Elly Tumwine has assured the public that Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi is safe at his home in Magele, Gayaza.

While responding to media questions at the Office of the Prime Minister on Thursday, Gen Tumwine noted that Kyagulanyi is safe and will continue to enjoy his rights.

Tumwine was asked if Kyagulanyi will be allowed to move freely now that he was swiftly driven by Police to his home.

“Hon Kyagulanyi is safely at home and will enjoy his rights as provided by the Constitution,” Tumwine said.

Bobi Wine arrived in Uganda on Thursday afternoon from the U.S where he has been to receive specialized medial treatment following his alleged torture.

Upon his arrival at Entebbe international airport, the legislator was led to a Police vehicle and driven off to his home, according to an earlier statement by Police spokesperson, SSP Emilian Kayima.

However, at the same time, there were reports on social media that Bobi Wine was being confined at Kasangati police station.

Now, Security Minister, Gen Tumwine has confirmed that Bobi Wine is indeed at his residence.

“Bobi Wine reached at the airport and as police had noted that it never wanted chaos in town, they [Police] had to escort him up to his place to ensure peace prevails in the city centre,” the General said.
