Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has dragged government to court for ‘illegally- stopping his countrywide music shows saying he has been denied his constitutional rights.

“The ban violates my constitutional rights and guarantees to freedom of speech, expression, association and right to work,” Bobi states in his affidavit.

He adds that stopping his shows in Kasese, Kamuli and Mukono was illegal because it violated his right to work.

Through his lawyers led by Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi, Bobi Wine says that it was illegal and a violation of his rights for police through the Kampala Metropolitan Police commander to stop his countrywide shows.

The Kyadondo East legislator cites shows in Kamuli and Mukono as some of those that were stopped by police, a thing he says is against the law.

“My promoter had spent a lot of money on advertising and I anticipated to earn a lot of money from the shows that were stopped.”

Bobi Wine claims that he had invested money in radio and tv adverts plus posters which were plucked off by police when his shows were stopped.

According to the singer, stopping his shows denied him the right to work and earn a decent living.

His lawyer Rwakafuuzi has told SoftPower that Bobi Wine seeks shs 300 million compensation for damages caused by police when they stopped his shows.

He also wants court to declare the orders by police illegal.
