President Museveni has appointed Bishop Henry Luke Orombi as the Chancellor of Muni University.
Farouk Kirunda, the deputy press secretary to the president, confirmed the appointment to SoftPower News on Tuesday.
Museveni made the appointment in a letter dated September 28, 2022.
Muni University, a public multi-campus university based in Arua district in West Nile, is one of the public universities and degree-awarding institutions in the country, licensed and supervised by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education.
Initially, the university was named West Nile University, but after wider consultations, the name was changed to Muni University.
The new chancellor Henry Luke Orombi served as the Archbishop of Uganda and Bishop of Kampala from 2004 until his retirement in December 2012, two years earlier than expected.
He was succeeded as Archbishop by Stanley Ntagali, who was consecrated in December 2012.
