Bank of Uganda Deploys Heads of Directorate and Department

Bank of Uganda has deployed Heads of Directorate and Department following the Board approval of the new Organization Structure on 07 May 2024 and in consideration of the skills, qualifications, competencies and experience.

This is contained in a memo to all Directors and Executive Directors issued by Michael Atingi-Ego, Deputy Governor on August 5, 2024.

“This is to inform you that with effect from 06 August 2024, Heads of Directorate and Department at the rank of Executive Director and Director, respectively have been deployed as follows,” reads the memo.

Ms. Kande Sabiti was deployed to the Procurement Assurance under the Governor’s Office while the Procurement and Disposal position remains vacant.

Mr. John Chemonges will serve as the Executive Director of Administration.

Mr. Ralph Bakashabaruhanga was deployed to the Administration Services Department, Mr Guster Kayinja to the Human Resources, Dr. Musa Waiswa to Medical Services, Mr. Oscar Kiiza to Pension Administration and  Mr. Innocent Muhwezi to Security Services.

Mr. David Kalyango will serve as the Executive Director of Bank Supervision.

Mr. Hannington Wasswa is deployed to the Commercial Banking Department, Mr. Robert Mbabazize to Financial Stability and Mr. Mackay Aomu to the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Department.

Ms. Susan Kanyemibwa will serve as the Executive Director of the Board Secretariat.

Ms. Christine Asiimwe is deployed to the Board Affairs Department and Dr. Kenneth Egesa to Communications and Public Relations.

Dr. Adam Mugume will serve as the Executive Director of Economic Research.

Ms. Milly Nalukwago is deployed to the Statistics Department. However, the Department of Monetary Policy & Economic Research position remains vacant.

Mr. Richard Byarugaba will serve as the Executive Director of Finance.

Mr. Valentine Ojangole is deployed to the Accounts Department and Ms. Hajara Kasule to the Agriculture & Other Credit Schemes Department.

Mr. Richard Mayebo will serve as the Executive Director of Information Technology.

Mr. Edward Mugerwa is deployed to IT Operations & Infrastructure while the position of IT Business Automation remains vacant.

Ms. Joyce Okello will serve as the Executive Director of Internal Audit.       

Mr. Ivan Amagaragariho is deployed to the Department of Internal Audit.

The position of Executive Director of Legal Services remains vacant while Ms. Margaret Kasule is deployed to the Legal Services Department.

Dr. Twinemanzi Tumubweinee will serve as the Executive Director of the National Payment Systems but the position of National Payment Systems remains vacant.

Dr. Jacob Opolot will serve as the Executive Director of Operations.

Mr. Charles Mugisa is deployed to the Banking Department, Ms. Christine Alupo to Currency, Dr. Jimmy Apaa to Domestic Financial Markets while Domestic FinancialMarkets and Development remains vacant.

Mr. Philip Wabulya will serve as the Executive Director of Risk and Strategy Management.    

Mr. Zephania Mugisha is deployed to the Risk & Compliance Department and Ms. Prisca Rwamahe to the Strategy and Innovation Department.

“As per Bank policy on handing over, Section 6.17 of the Administration Manual, actual movements to the new duty stations will be handled administratively. The vacant positions will be filled competitively at an appropriate time,” said Atingi-Ego.
