This year’s highly anticipated Legends of Sound Afrigo at 50 concert is expected to attract thousands of people to celebrate the music of Uganda’s most enduring and popular band. Speaking at a press conference, Aly Allibhai, CEO of Talent Africa Group, said the Saturday, August 16, performance will take place at the more spacious Millennium Grounds, unlike the previous two editions that happened at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
The decision to move to the Millennium Grounds is in recognition of Afrigo Band’s large loyal following and its achievement of being Uganda’s most iconic musical ensemble for half a century. “We are going to Millennium Grounds because we want Ugandans to have enough space to dance and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime celebration,” Allibhai said.
The Afrigo at 50 concert promises to be the cultural and musical highlight of the year, with an all-star lineup of Afrigo Band legends, including Moses Matovu, Rachel Magoola, Joanita Kawalya, Herbert Kigundu, Sarah Namulondo, and Charles Busuulwa. Legendary Congolese superstar Koffi Olomamide.
“We are going to Millennium Grounds because we want Ugandans to have enough space to dance and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime celebration,” Allibhai said.
