Uganda’s biggest comedy event, ‘Africa Laughs’ is returning in October and organizers have promised a bigger episode.
Now in its fourth year, the show which is steered by popular comedian, Patrick Salvado’s will take place on October 8.
This was revealed on Tuesday during a press launch held at Speke Apartments in Kampala.it
The man from Ombokolo has promised to treat Ugandans to a steady supply of humour yet again, along with a fine line up of hilarious comics from around the continent.
The maiden show was held in 2013.
Salvado has over the years transformed into one of the biggest brands in comedy both locally and across the continent, with his blend of laugh-out-loud humour and cheeky charm.
He pulls crowds wherever he goes and with him hosting a show, the lineup is guaranteed to crank up every bit of laughter with jokes from all over the globe.
International comedians like Prof Hamo (Kenya), Kevin J (UK), Basketmouth (Nigeria), Alfred Kainga (Zimbabwe), Eddie Kadi (Congo), Mc Jessy (Kenya) and Arthur Nkusi (Rwanda) have all comfirmed to be part of the great event.
Local comics lined up for Africa Laughs 4 include Daniel Omara, Prince Emma, Ronnie Mcvex, Agnes Akite and Madrat & Chiko.
Responding to queries on what new things the revelers must look forward to, Salvado revealed that a lot of things have unfolded since the last show last year and that the Ugandans should be more that ready to get fresh content.
“There will definitely be no reason to miss out on what promises to be an evening of rib-cracking comedy at the Serena Conference Hall come Monday October 8,” Salvado said.
He said that the act are a blend end of dialects, character voices, accents, great insight into human nature and street wise humour courtesy of Singleton, his main sponsor.
According to Salvado, the Africa Laughs brand has grown significantly both in Uganda and the region at large.
“The industry has risen from nothing to grace. As major stakeholders in the industry, we have the challenge of keeping things new and exciting to keep our audiences satisfied. Africa Laughs returns with lots of additions as we continue to grow and develop comedy,” said Salvador.
On her part, Anne Nakiyaga, UBL’s Luxury Portfolio manager said: “One of the finest feelings in the world is the deep rooted belly giggle. It can bring people together to establish amazing connections, and create unforgettable moments. We have every  reason to be proud of our association with comedy through Singleton, a drink that brings pleasure from the first sip”.
