Lesotho will Tuesday square off with Uganda in the 2019 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualification Group L match, in a return game which will be played at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru at 1900hrs (EAT).
Likuena suffered a 3-0 defeat to Cranes in a Group L match which was played in Kampala on Saturday, thanks to striker Emmanuel Okwi’s brace and Farouk Miya’s spectacular spot kick.
After the match on Saturday, Lesotho’s tactician Moses Maliehe attributed the loss to not having some of his best players but promised a revenge against Cranes in today’s game.
“Sure, we missed the services of our first choice natural left back Bokang because of accumulated cautions. Uganda Cranes made best use of the right flank” Maliehe said.
“In the first half, we did not play well. We struggled and Uganda was all over us. However, we stabilised in the second stanza although we conceded still. It is not over until it is over. Uganda is coming to Lesotho on Tuesday and we shall revenge,” he added.
The defeat left Lesotho placed third on the group standings with two points from three games. They are two points behind second-placed Cape Verde.
The Southern African side will be keen to keep its hopes of qualifying for the finals alive with a win over Uganda.
Meanwhile, The Ugandans under the tutorship of Coach Sebastian Desabre, are oozing with confidence having secured a home victory over Lesotho.
The win took the Cranes to the top of the group standings with seven points from three games. They are three points ahead of second-placed Cape Verde.
The East African giants who are already in Maseru having travelled on Sunday in chartered plane offered by President Yoweri Museveni, will be eyeing another victory over the southern Africa side, which would see them maintain their lead at the top of the standings.
In the other group L game, Tanzania will also on Tuesday afternoon host Cape Verde.
