Egypt, Nigeria, hosts Morocco and Senegal booked their places in the last four after the quarter-final matches concluded on Saturday night.

Hosts Morocco will take on a star-studded Nigeria side, while Senegal, the first team to reach the semi-finals, will face seven-time champions Egypt. Both matches will be played on Wednesday.

Egypt claimed the final semi-final slot after edging defending champions Côte d’Ivoire 3-2 in a thrilling Saturday night encounter, ending the Elephants’ reign and setting up a mouthwatering clash with Senegal.

Earlier, Senegal had sealed progression with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mali, Iliman Ndiaye’s first-half strike proving decisive in a tense West African derby. The Teranga Lions demonstrated their tournament maturity by controlling the contest and protecting their narrow lead to reach yet another AFCON semi-final.

Morocco also remain firmly on course for a first continental title in 50 years following a composed 2-0 win over Cameroon in Rabat. Goals from Brahim Diaz and Ismaël Saibari underlined the Atlas Lions’ attacking quality and defensive balance as they continued their impressive home campaign.

Completing the semi-final quartet are Nigeria, who dispatched Algeria 2-0 in Marrakech. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring after a tightly contested start, before Akor Adams sealed the win late on to set up a blockbuster showdown with the hosts.

The quarter-final results underlined the fine margins at this stage of the tournament, where pedigree and composure proved decisive. After an unpredictable group phase and a fiercely contested Round of 16, experience began to tell.

The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday, 14 January, with Senegal facing Egypt and Morocco taking on Nigeria, as AFCON 2025 edges closer to its climax ahead of the final in Rabat on 18 January.
