Ambassador Salah S Hammad, a senior human rights expert at the African Union Commission, accompanied by the Executive Director African Freedom of Information Centre, Mr Gilbert Sendugwa, paid a courtesy visit to the Defence Spokesperson Brig Gen Kulayigye Felix Wednesday in Mbuya.
The trio discussed various key issues pertaining to the right of access to Information and the instruments and policies developed by the African Union that advocate and lobby for access to Information which is a human right.
The Defence Spokesperson said that UPDF will always cooperate with the Access to Information Law because they are key stakeholders of democracy and guarantors of peace.
He reiterated UPDF’s commitment to working with African Union and key stakeholders that are interested in the peace and development of Uganda to access the information they require.
The Ambassador offered the Defence Spokesperson a plaque as a token to mark their cooperation.
