Absa Bank Uganda has awarded UGX 50 million to five lucky winners in its ongoing card usage campaign, “UGX 200 million can change your story.” The winners used their debit or credit cards for at least five transactions in November to pay for goods and services.

During the handover ceremony, Absa’s Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, Michael Segwaya, thanked the winners for choosing Absa as their banking partner. “Our campaign reflects our commitment to being a customer-centric bank, aligned with our refreshed brand promise of ‘Your Story Matters.'”

Segwaya encouraged customers to continue using their Absa cards during the festive season, highlighting the convenience and security of card payments. Sam Kiyaga, Head of Alternate Channels at Absa Bank Uganda, assured customers that Absa cards have the highest security features to ensure safe transactions.

One of the winners, Lisa Kandere, praised Absa for rewarding customers. “I’ve been using my debit card for everything, and I’m glad to receive this festive reward. I encourage fellow customers to use these cards because they’re secure, easy to use, and you could win a reward like this.”

According to the Uganda Bankers Association’s Banking Sector Report 2023, there was an increase in digital payment systems, including point-of-sale, debit cards, mobile banking, mobile money, and internet banking. The report also showed an increase in debit card payment transactions from Q3 to Q4 2023.

Kiyaga concluded, “We focus on digital innovation, continually enhancing our cybersecurity measures to safeguard customer investments. We stay ahead with cutting-edge technologies, ensuring our encryption measures are robust for today’s standards and prepared for tomorrow’s challenges.”
