Absa Bank Uganda commemorated World Earth Day by planting 1,000 trees at Buwagga Secondary School in Wakiso District. The event brought together Absa employees, students, and community members to promote environmental sustainability and community engagement.
The tree planting initiative is part of Absa Bank Uganda’s broader effort to shape a sustainable future through long-term environmental stewardship. The bank aims to plant 1 million trees in three years and has planted 755,608 trees to date.
Robinah Mukasa Kamuntu, Head of Communications and Citizenship at Absa Bank Uganda, emphasized the bank’s dedication to environmental sustainability, saying: “We are proud to celebrate World Earth Day by taking meaningful action to support our planet and communities with our tree-planting initiative.”
The newly planted trees will provide several benefits, including, asustainable source of food, Shade for students, Enhanced biodiversity and Mitigation of climate change through carbon emission offsetting
The bank remains committed to its sustainability agenda, and plans to continue its tree planting engagements across the country in collaboration with schools, local governments, and environmental organizations to meet its target of planting 1 million trees in three years.
