Abel Chebet has won a bronze medal in the men’s 5000m at the Islamic Solidarity Games taking place in Konya, Turkey.
In the men’s 5000m race, Uganda’s athlete Chebet finished third, bringing home a bronze medal.
He crossed the finish line in 13:54.94.
Running in ideal conditions, Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew won the 5000m gold after clocking 13 minutes and 51.64 seconds.
Morocco’s Mohamed Fares came second with 13 minutes and 54.02 seconds to win silver.
On Tuesday, Team Uganda attended the opening ceremony of the Islamic Solidarity Games running from 9th – 18th August 2022.
Kayangwe Godwin was appointed by Uganda Olympic Committee as chef de mission of Team Uganda while Dr Were was named the team doctor.
