SATO Uganda Launches I-Trap Toilet Connection System to Enhance Sanitation in Communities 

SATO Uganda, the manufacturers of safe toilets, have launched the innovative SATO I-Trap Toilet Connection System that will enhance the hygiene and sanitation standards of Ugandans, especially in communities facing challenges with poor sanitation and hygiene infrastructure.

The first on the market, the SATO 1-Trap Toilet Connection System is part of the many innovative products that offer a cleaner, safer, and more accessible sanitation experience for families, especially women and children.

According to the Annual Health Sector Performance Report 2021/2022, the population practicing open defecation in Uganda is at 25% with 16% living in rural areas and 9% in urban areas. 

This innovation, the SATO I-Trap Toilet Connection System, supports Sustainable Development Goal 6.2, which aims to achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all and end open defecation by 2030, with special attention to the needs of women, girls, and those in vulnerable situations.

Timothy Kayondo, Team Leader at SATO Uganda, noted that they want to empower people to live better lives through innovative sanitation and hygiene solutions. 

“Our philosophy is to innovate with the end user in mind whilst driving the global sustainability agenda,” he said.

He added that the innovative the SATO I-Trap Toilet Connection System is designed to improve sanitation standards across Uganda, offering numerous benefits that set it apart from conventional toilet systems. 

“The product has an advanced design that minimizes odors and effectively keeps flies and other vectors away, ensuring a more hygienic environment, it is cost-effective, easy to install, and maintain, and is built to last, reduces the security risks associated with distant latrines and can be easily adapted to conventional porcelain toilet systems,” Kayondo added.
