President and Commander in Chief, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has Friday appointed AIGP Abbas Byakagaba, the former Director of Counter Terrorism, as the new Inspector General of Police.
Byakagaba replaces IGP Martin Okoth Ochola who recently retired from the Police Force
Byakagaba will be deputized by AIGP James Ochaya who has been the Director for Research and Planning. Ochaya replaces Maj Gen Katsigazi who has been recalled to the UPDF.
The other senior military officers recalled from police include Brig Gen Godfrey Golooba and Maj Gen Abel Kandiho who has been serving as the Chief of Joint Staff. Kandiho, renowned for his intelligence credentials, has been appointed as Senior Presidential Advisor.
