Uganda Vs Guinea

Uganda Cranes will today play against Guinea in its first friendly game against the team in Rabat before travelling to Marrakech for its African Nations Championship games. The other friendly game will be on Monday January 8 against Congo Brazzaville.

Uganda is participating in CHAN for the forth time since 2011 and today, we take you through its performance in the previous tournaments.

In 2011, Cranes was pooled in Group A alongside Algeria, Sudan and Gabon in the tournament hosted by Sudan.

Cranes lost all the three matches it played and scored only one goal against Gabon losing 2-1 to the West Africans, thanks to Saddam Juma.

South Africa hosted the 2014 edition of the CHAN tournament which was won by Libya on penalty shot out against Ghana. Uganda was in group B alongside Morocco, Zimbabwe and Burkina Faso.

Cranes beat Burkina Faso 2 – 1 in their opener on January 12, 2014, lost 3 – 1 to Morocco and had goalless draw against Zimbabwe.

The most recent CHAN edition was held in Rwanda. Uganda was in group D together with Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mali. Uganda drew with both Mali and Zimbabwe before losing 1 – 0 against Zambia.

In December 2017, Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) appointed Sebastien Desabre to guide Cranes in the next three years, starting with the January 2018 CHAN championship in Morocco.

Uganda is pooled in group B alongside Zambia, Ivory coast and Namibia and all Cranes games will be played at Stade de Marrakech in Morocco starting from Jan 14.
