Police in Lungujja, a suburb of Kampala have detained four suspected thugs, arrested during a night operation.

The same group is said to have proceeded to Wakaliga Zone B where they battered a one Kizito Remmy leaving him with terrible cuts on the head.

The victim was rushed to Mengo hospital for medical attention.

The locals then pursued the suspects in a joint hunt with police and crime preventers. Subsequently, four suspects were overpowered, arrested and taken to Old Kampala Police Station.

“The suspects in custody have been identified as Kayondo Ibrah, Ntambi Joseph, Siiwa Emmanuel and Ssekandi Andrew,” Owoyesigyire said.

The arrest follows recent numerous successful operations that have been conducted by police in different city suburbs, leading to a crackdown on a number of criminals and unearthing of several dark spots.

Owoyesigyire says that police conducted a search at the suspects homes and two pangas were were recovered.

This comes at the peek of growing criminal incidents across the country including mysterious murders. On the night before the new year, a total of five people were brutally murdered in the Greater Masaka area by unknown assailants.

Police has repeatedly made appeals to citizens to adopt the neighborhood watch approach to curb criminality.
